Differences between Blog Posts and Pages

Posts are the entries that take up at least 80% of the screen space on your blog's site. They appear in reverse chronological order, so your blog stays timely, fresh and meaningful to visitors.

Add pages to your blog. You can create pages for consistent content like "About" or "Contact". Pages can appear on your blog as tabs at the top or links on the side.

Note: You cannot use specific posts as pages.

Posts are the ones which you are going to write often while Pages are used when you want them to be display in you blog every time. It can not be updated with post.

Pages are those first page and certain timeless information always available in your diary. While Posts are the regular pages with date in diary, which you will be writing everyday.

So, anytime you want to write a blog, create posts and not pages. As stated above, pages are used only when you display something everyday/every time.

Special things about Pages

1. Pages do not have a date associated with them.

• They are not listed in your Archive gadget.
• They are not included in your RSS feeds from your blog.
• They are not accessible using the older Post links or New Post.

It means, you need to use either the Blogger-supplied Pages gadget or another gadget that you set up to include links to your pages hence, no way for your readers to be able to get to your Pages.

2. Pages do not have labels.

It means they will not be parts of the Labels gadget.

3. Only one page is shown at a time.

On this note, the jump break feature is not implemented in the Pages editor, and any jump-break that you manually put into the page using HTML code is ignored when the Page is displayed.

 4. Editing is done through a separate option on the Blogger dashboard.

When you go into the Pages option, the list of Pages is not quite the same as the list of Posts. Because Pages that are already published have a blue background with view link and draft ones have grey background with no view link.  

5. Pages are not included when you export your blog

If you click on settings tab, there is a tool for importing and exporting blog content. Before, pages are not included in the file created by the export option, to back up your pages, you have to move the code for each one but now it has been included. They are not automatically published when you import from that file. 

6. The Amazon product finder is not shown on the page editor

Blogger/Amazon integration has removed the product editor from the post editor totally.

7. Pages cannot be use as your home page

By default, your "home page" always shows the post with the latest Post date. there are various ways around this
